UniLearn (Blackboard) - USW's Virtual Learning Environment

Library - Access USW's Library Resources

Referencing - Most USW courses require students to use the Harvard Referencing Style. Make sure you're familiar with the Referencing Guides for your course.

USW Enrolment  - All USW students have to enrol (register) with the  University of South Wales. You can do this online.

End-of-Year Results - You will need your USW student ID number and your USW password to access your results.

Extenuating Circumstances - If something unexpected affects your ability to  succeed at an assessment, you can apply for extenuating circumstances.

Academic Appeals - If you think there has been a mistake in the way your work has been marked, you can make an  Academic Appeal.

Advice & Services

USW's Advice Zones can help you with queries about appeals, extenuating circumstances and other academic matters.

USW Progression Bursary - We offer our Progression Bursary to college students who choose to top-up their USW HND or foundation degree to a full honours degree at one of our USW campuses.

Study Skills Resources -  You can access USW’s guides and resources.  For study skills support with a tutor, please  contact your college.

Internet & IT

Reset your USW Password - If you’ve forgotten your pasword, or if it has  expired, you can reset it online.

Your USW Email Account - As USW student, you have a personal Google Mail  account with Gigabytes of storage, Google Drive,  Google Calendar and more through the University.

Higher Education Help for NPTC. The Higher Education Information Hub on Moodle is a useful resource for HE students at NPTC Group.

Student Support Services. We are on hand to offer advice and guidance on a wide range of personal, social, financial and academic issues. Our friendly staff are always available to discuss any concerns or worries you may have.

Bursary Applications - Our bursaries are designed to reward the best academic performers from our partnership schools and assist them in developing to their fullest potential.

Harship Fund - the Higher Education Hardship Fund can offer support to students who are experiencing financial difficulties.

College Complaints Procedure. If you have a complaint about staff, services or issues at your college, use the College Complaints Procedure to seek redress. For issues around the academic aspects of your course, please use USW's procedures.

Our Responsibilities

As a student on one of our courses, here’s what we’ll be doing for you:
  • We’re accrediting your course, so our academic policies apply. That includes
    • Extenuating Circumstances and Fit to Sit policy
    • Suspension of Studies
    • Academic complaints and appeals
  • USW handles quality assurance of the course, and handles second-marking, external examiners and award boards (which finalise grades at the end of the academic year)
  • You can work towards a Grad Edge Award to boost your employability
  • You can access our library's resources.
  • Every enrolled student has a USW IT account
    • This includes a student email address and cloud storage through Google Apps.
    • You can set this up to forward any incoming email to another address if you prefer.
  • Your end-of-year results are managed by us
  • When you complete your studies, you can graduate at one of ourgraduation ceremonies

Got any question about USW’s services? Contact the Advice Zone or the USW Link Officer for your course.

If you don't know who the Link Officer is, you can find out their name by downloading the USW Master Register of Collaborative Activity spreadsheet. You'll have to select the "FE Colleges" sheet, and then find your college and course. Once you know their name, you can search for their contact details in our staff directory.

The College's responsibilities are:
  • To recruit students in line with the College's admissions policy and the programme specification
  • To enrol students at the Colleges and signpost enrolment with the University
  • To undertake the teaching and learning on the programmes
  • To first mark student work
  • To give feedback to students on their work
  • To provide access to library and IT resources through the College Library and Learning Resource Centre
  • To facilitate access to the University of South Wales VLE, Unilife and university resources
  • To deal with complaints that are not academic in nature
  • To advise, guide and support students through tutorials, Study Skill Support and/or Student Support Services
  • To collect tuition fees associated with the programme
  • To confirm your enrolment and attendance with the Student Loan Company
